NSR Film Competition – Good Vibrations

Our prize this week is a pair of tickets to see Good Vibrations – the biopic of Terri Hooley, ‘Godfather of Belfast Punk.’

In 1970s trouble-torn Belfast, as his friends armed themselves and took sides, radical, rebel and music-lover Terri Hooley opened a record shop in one of the most bombed parts of the city and called it Good Vibrations. This charming, passionate biopic is the story of that record shop and Hooley. Good Vibrations explores the compelling voice of resistance that was the city’s underground punk scene which Hooley found himself the unlikely leader of, rousing young musicians such as The Outcasts and The Undertones and his motley crew of kids and punks into action to create a new sense of community. A must-see not just for fans of punk-rock, but for fans of any music genre, Good Vibrations perfectly captures the energy and spirit of an important cultural movement and the maverick behind it.
